Telkom VS Gaming is hosting a cosplay competition at Comic Con Africa 2026, with R30,000 in cash prizes up for grabs. The Next Gen Squad Cosplay Competition takes place on Saturday, 26 September at the event’s Main Stage in Johannesburg.
Registration is free and open to Comic Con Africa (CCA) attendees aged 13 and older. Entries are limited, and registration closes at 18:00 on Friday, 25 September 2026.

Who you’re competing as
The competition centres on Telkom VS Gaming’s Next Gen Squad, a four-character lineup that competitors must choose from. The characters are S-Tech, Vibey Val, Mobile Mo, and Lucky Lou.
Each entry gets judged on overall look and presentation, creativity, character interpretation, stage presence, and overall impact. There’s no single formula for a winning cosplay, which means the stage is open to a range of interpretations.
Picking your character and putting together your take on them is the entry point. Getting on stage and committing to it is the rest.

According to Telkom VS Gaming, the prize structure breaks down as follows:
- First place: R12,500
- Second place: R10,000
- Third place: R7,500
Only the top three placements receive prizes. The competition is part of Telkom VS Gaming’s broader Comic Con Africa 2026 presence at the Johannesburg Expo Centre in Nasrec.
How to register
Registration is free and handled via an online form. Telkom VS Gaming has noted that entries are limited, so early registration is advised before the Friday 25 September cutoff.
Comic Con Africa itself runs from 24 to 27 September 2026, daily from 09:00 to 18:00 at the Johannesburg Expo Centre. The cosplay competition sits within the Saturday programme only.
