OPPO announced the arrival of the Reno16 F 5G, bringing its camera-first smartphone to the South African market.
Built for young South Africans who use their phones to capture and share moments, the Reno16 F 5G combines the camera experience with the battery life and performance needed for everyday use.
“The camera is where the experience starts for many users,” says Liam Faurie, Head of Go-to-market and Operations at OPPO South Africa.
“With the Reno16 F 5G, we wanted to give people more freedom to be creative with what they capture, while making sure the phone can keep up with how they use it every day.”

A camera made for more than one kind of moment
The Reno16 F’s Ultra-Clear Camera System is designed for different types of photography, from portraits to group photos, and travel shots to selfies.
Its 50MP Ultra-Clear Main Camera captures sharp detail, while the 50MP 3.5x telephoto portrait camera (3.5× optical zoom) brings distant subjects closer while retaining clarity.
An 8MP ultra-wide camera (100° field of view) captures wider scenes and larger groups, while the 50MP ultra-wide selfie camera fits more people and surroundings into the frame.
From capturing content to creating it
The camera experience extends beyond taking photos, with tools to edit and remix images and videos directly on the phone. AI Remix Collage and Popout 2.0 turn photos into more playful social posts, while POP Cam adds vintage-inspired styles.
AI Portrait Glow helps adjust lighting and colour in portraits, while Natural Tone 2.0 keeps colours consistent between the preview and the final shot. For video, 4K Auto Straighten Video keeps footage steady, and Zoom Free Video makes zooming smoother.
Dual-View Video 2.0 lets users record themselves alongside what is in front of them, while 4K front ultra-wide video captures more of what is around them.
Designed to make a statement
The Reno16 F 5G is made to be seen. The 3D Pop Planet design gives the phone a distinctive look, with Pop White and Twilight Violet colourways.
- Pop White features an etched planetary design on the back, while Twilight Violet has a deep purple finish with star-like details around the camera module.
- The Twilight Violet colourway uses a one-piece panel design with a high-gloss finish around the camera cutout and a softer, skin-feel texture across the back.
Pop White uses integrated clear injection moulding to create its planetary design, with the planet artwork suspended underneath a thick, crystal-clear lens so that it appears to float in 3D space and pop out from the back of the phone.

Power that keeps up
The Reno16 F 5G packs a 7,000mAh battery with advanced silicon-anode technology, giving users the capacity to get through long days of shooting, streaming and staying connected.
When it is time to recharge, 80W SUPERVOOC charging can take the battery to 50% in around 30 minutes, with a full charge taking approximately 62 minutes.
Built for everyday life
Everyday durability comes with IP69K water and dust resistance, while the 6.57-inch FHD+ AMOLED display uses a 120Hz Smart Adaptive refresh rate for a smooth, responsive experience.
The display also supports splash and glove touch, making it easy to use in less-than-ideal conditions.
The MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Energy 5G platform and ColorOS 16 keep the phone running smoothly, with 8GB of RAM expandable to 24GB through RAM Expansion and 256GB of storage. OPPO’s 6-Year Fluency Certification backs this, designed to maintain performance over time.
Price and availability
The OPPO Reno16 F 5G is available in South Africa from R599 pm x 36, or R16 999 once-off. It will be available through participating sales channels, including Vodacom, Telkom, MTN, Cell C and Takealot.
Customers who purchase the OPPO Reno16 F 5G during the launch period will also receive a free OPPO Bubble, a magnetic mini-display that lets users control their camera remotely and use the phone’s premium rear cameras for ultra-clear selfies, or a realme Watch 5 smartwatch, redeemable via OPPO Rewards.
