When is the next Lotto draw?
Lotto and Lotto Plus 1 are drawn every Wednesday and Saturday at approximately 21:00 (SA time), with ticket sales closing shortly before the draw begins.
About Lotto and Lotto Plus 1
Lotto is South Africa’s original National Lottery jackpot game. Players choose six numbers from a pool of 52, and a Bonus Ball is also drawn. Lotto carries a genuine rolling jackpot, if nobody matches all six numbers, the jackpot grows and rolls over into the next draw.
Lotto Plus 1 is an optional add-on game using the same numbers you picked for the main Lotto draw, giving you a second chance to win in a separate results draw with its own prize pool and jackpot.
Lotto prizes are paid tax-free in South Africa. Winners of larger prizes may also receive access to professional financial guidance and counselling through the National Lottery’s winner support programme.
How to play Lotto
Playing Lotto is easy. Choose six numbers between 1 and 52, or choose Quick Pick to have your numbers selected at random. A standard Lotto entry costs R5 per board. Adding Lotto Plus 1 costs an extra R2.50 per board.
Buying a ticket:
You can buy tickets from authorised National Lottery retailers such as grocery stores, spaza shops, or Flash traders. Tickets can also be purchased through the National Lottery website and mobile app.
You can also buy Lotto tickets through participating banking apps, including FNB, Standard Bank, Absa, Nedbank and Capitec. Simply open the app, navigate to the Lotto section, choose Lotto and select your numbers.
How to claim your winnings:
If your numbers match one of the prize divisions, you may be entitled to a cash prize. Before celebrating, double-check your ticket against the official results above and keep it in a safe place until you’ve claimed any winnings.
Prizes under R2,000 can be collected from participating retailers, and if purchased via a banking app, the winnings are paid directly into your bank account. When claiming from a retailer, take your physical ticket with you in order for the payout to be processed.
Prizes between R2,001 and R49,999 can be claimed from designated regional payout centres or by post. Prizes of R50,000 and above must be claimed directly from a regional office. You’ll need to present your winning ticket, a valid South African ID book or smart ID card, proof of residence, and your banking details for payment.
