Helldivers 2 is the only game I am playing right now. Have been playing it since launch day. So when my squad mate dropped a link in our Discord minutes after the announcement dropped on 17 August, I thought it was a meme.

Helldivers2 Super Merch
Sony Interactive Entertainment and Arrowhead Game Studios launched Helldivers 2 Super Merch as part of the Devoid of Liberty update on 12 August.
Quick detour. Here’s a video of a charger booping its nose trying to get to me (I’m K3).
Back to the merch, it works like this: complete specific in-game achievements, and the game unlocks the right to purchase physical merchandise.
You do not earn the item, you earn the ability to buy it. And you will be required to sign in with your PSN account (or your platform equivalent if you are on PC or Xbox) to verify if you qualify.
The 2 items currently available
Two items are live at launch. The first is the Private Teddy Snuggles Plush, priced at $40 (roughly R648 at the current exchange rate, or €43).
To qualify, you need to have completed at least 75 missions (you have until 28 February 2027 to reach this goal).
The bear ships in a box designed to look like a Hellpod! It measures 17.5 x 22 x 27cm and is made of polyester, PVC and ribbed knit fabric.
The second item is the Hell Commander Pin, priced at $25. It’s a real-life replica of the medal awarded in-game and is a bit harder to earn. You can only purchase it if you have actually reached level 100.
The pin is made of antique brass, laser printed and filled with resin, and measures 44.4 x 33.6mm excluding the premium woven ribbon. It comes packaged in a custom leatherette display box with a congratulations card.
Limit one per player.
Both items carry an earn deadline of 28 February 2027 and a purchase deadline of 31 March 2027.
A trusted strategy
This is an extension of PlayStation’s Franchise Rewards programme, which launched in September 2025 with Ghost of Tsushima (another game I really, really love). That rollout offered a T-shirt for earning the Mono No Aware gold trophy and a pin for the Living Legend platinum.
If you missed it, the window is closed. Those items are no longer available.
The Helldivers 2 programme follows the same mechanic, with longer deadlines and, crucially, a much larger active player base walking in the door.
The Devoid of Liberty update also coincided with Helldivers 2 joining the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium game catalogue, which means a fresh wave of players is counting missions from zero right now.
The anti-scalper logic is sound, for what it is worth. You cannot bot your way to 75 completed missions or buy level 100 on a marketplace. The items are genuinely gated by playtime, which is a meaningful barrier in a way that a limited-stock drop is not.
Some players on X have pointed out the irony: Bungie tried achievement-linked physical rewards for Destiny 2 and got grief for it.
Arrowhead does it and the community largely applauds. Whether that is brand loyalty or just the fact that a teddy bear in a Hellpod is funnier than anything Bungie shipped, I genuinely cannot tell you.
The part where South Africa gets left out. Again.
There is a problem, one many South African gamers are painfully familiar with.
The Super Merch FAQ confirms the programme is currently only available to residents of the United States, Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Japan and Australia. As per the official shipping page, the main store ships to the US, Canada, Australia and Japan, while the EU portal handles the European and UK orders.
South Africa is not on the list. The store’s own terms note that availability in additional countries is under review and may be introduced at a later date. That is the kind of language that means no, not yet, and possibly not ever.
The community noticed. Under the official Helldivers 2 announcement post on X, players from outside the covered regions pushed back immediately. As one player said: “We are in 2026, international shipping is a thing and you have an international audience beyond those 4 countries. Do better.”

Helldivers 2 is available here. South Africa does have PSN access, but having a PSN account and being able to play the game is apparently not the same as being included when Sony decides to ship physical rewards for playing that game.
There is still time for Sony and Arrowhead to expand the shipping list before any South African player’s hours go uncredited.
I have completed 75 missions, plus hundreds more. I am well past level 100 and 800 gaming hours at this point. I have unlocked all 38 achievements.
I am just saying.
I want my damn Private Teddy Snuggles. For bear-mocracy.
