The annual Made by Google event showcased the tech giant’s latest hardware offerings and AI advancements.
Very sneakily, this year’s Made by Google preceded Apple’s September iPhone reveal.

During the keynote address, Senior Vice President, Platforms & Devices Rick Osterloh says Google believes that “AI can make day-to-day life more productive, open up new ways to learn, and create ways for people to express themselves.”
And having AI features built into the latest devices means we get to carry those benefits with us, everywhere we go.
He added that Gemini is “the biggest launch forward, since we launched Google Assistant.”

Pixel 9 lineup:
- Three models: Pixel 9, 9 Pro, and 9 Pro XL
- Gemini AI integrated as the default assistant
- Camera and hardware upgrades across the range
- Pixel 9 Pro Fold introduced as Google’s second foldable phone, featuring an 8-inch display when opened.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is priced at $1,799 in the US, since Google devices still aren’t supported in South Africa… 😒
Gemini AI integration:
- Gemini Live launched for Android, offering conversational AI interactions
- Available to Google One AI Premium subscribers
- New AI-powered photo editing tools, including Magic Editor updates and Pixel Studio for AI-generated images
Pixel Watch 3:
- Now available in 41mm and 45mm sizes
- Larger display with smaller bezels
- New “loss of pulse” detection feature for health emergencies
Pixel Buds Pro 2:
- Equipped with Gemini Live
- Features Tensor A1 chip, enabling 27% size reduction
- Priced at $229 in the US
Other announcements:
- New Nest Learning Thermostat with Gemini-powered interactions
- Google TV Streamer replacing the Chromecast line, doubling as a smart home hub
- Pixel Weather app debut with AI capabilities
