Comic Con Africa has confirmed that actor, activist, and New York Times bestselling author Misha Collins will be attending this year’s event on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 August.

Best known for his fan-favourite role as Castiel in Supernatural, Collins is also an accomplished poet, podcaster, and all-round chaos goblin.

Which means his panels are bound to be as unpredictable as they are memorable.

Wait, who is Misha Collins?

We get it. Some of you live under rocks….

If you’re a long-time fan of Supernatural, a Gotham Knights defender, or just someone who appreciates a man with range, you’re going to want to clear your weekend.

TV credits

Outside of his 12-season run on Supernatural as the beloved Castiel, Collins has also starred in Gotham Knights as Harvey Dent/Two-Face.

He’s made appearances in Timeless, 24, ER, and Charmed.

It’s also been confirmed that Collins (along with supernatural co-star Jared Padalecki, aka SAMMY!!!) will join the fifth and final season of The Boys.

Supernatural alum Jensen Ackles (aka Dean Winchester, who claims to hate soft rock yet knows every word to ‘All Out of Love’) joined The Boys’ third season as Soldier Boy.

Host, author, poet

He’s also the host of the Emmy-nominated PBS travel and food series Roadfood.

But that’s only part of the story.

Misha is the author of Some Things I Still Can’t Tell You, a raw and emotional poetry collection that hit the New York Times bestseller list.

His podcast Bridgewater was the number one fiction podcast on Apple Podcasts for two years running.

Activism, kindness, and chaos for a cause

Collins often uses his platform to advocate for climate justice, LGBTQIA+ rights, and equitable access to healthcare and education.

He’s the guy behind Random Acts. The volunteer-run kindness nonprofit supported everything from funding classrooms in under-resourced areas to supporting mental health initiatives.

Beyond the fandom, Collins founded GISH, the Guinness World Record-winning scavenger hunt that’s part fandom chaos, part global fundraiser.

GISH has raised millions for causes like refugee aid, environmental cleanups, and even sponsored rescue missions. One year, participants helped rescue a Syrian family and bring them to safety.

Oh, and in 2023, President Zelenskyy of Ukraine named him a humanitarian ambassador to the country. Casual.

Meet him at Comic Con Africa

During his two days at Comic Con Africa, Collins will appear in panel discussions and Q&As, where he’ll be sharing stories from set and talking about his activist work.

If his past panels are anything to go by, fans can expect a strange mix of heartfelt reflections, unhinged anecdotes, and enough one-liners to fuel a hundred Tumblr posts.

There will also be photo opportunities and autograph sessions available through Howler, but you’ll need to already have a valid Comic Con Africa 2025 ticket in order to buy add-ons.

Con-goers, book your tickets here.
