We finally have our first official look at Stranger Things Season 5 and let’s just say, it is wilder than ever. Netflix dropped the teaser and fans are already losing their minds.

The clip doesn’t give much away, but that’s never stopped the internet from spiraling into theory mode.

Stranger Things 5 was officially announced on 17 February 2022. Let’s dive into the that teaser, shall we?

The 24-second trailer is cryptic as hell.

We get a spooky pan across Hawkins and the telltale hum of something sinister lurking below the surface. It’s all veryb cinematic.

Cue: goosebumps.

We don’t really get to see much of Vecna throughout the trailer, only a brief glimpse toward the end.

What can we expect in Season 5?

The Duffer Brothers have already confirmed that the final season will bring things full circle: back to Hawkins, back to the core group, and back to the emotional stakes that started it all.

It plays out in the fall of 1987. Hawkins is “scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna,” the official descriptions reads.

Meanwhile, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven. She’s forced back into hiding because of this.

As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread.

The final battle is looming, and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before.

We’ll get closure. We’ll get chaos. We’ll probably cry.

So when does Season 5 drop?

The first four episodes are scheduled for 26 November, followed by episodes five to seven on 25 December. Episode eight on 31 December.

Filming was delayed due to last year’s Hollywood strikes.

This will be the final season of Stranger Things, so expectations are sky-high, and so is the fan anxiety. No surprise here.

Fans are in their feelings

The trailer posted on Netflix’s YouTube account accumulated nearly 11 million views in under 22 hours.

Twitter (sorry, X) is doing what it does best: screaming in all caps and overanalyzing every frame of the trailer.

And, of course, this gem from YouTube: “When Stranger Things came out, I was 6. Now I’m 65 and I can’t wait to finish this masterpiece of a series with my grandchildren. ❤”

There’s an entire Reddit thread about it too.

One said: “The Dustin and Steve hug… Jonathan having speaking lines in a teaser… El flying… Hopper being a badass… Vecna… MAN I CANNOT WAIT ANYMORE.”

Someone else suggested checking the trailer frame-by-frame at the 1:12 to 1:15 mark.

“Check the haircut, the backpack, the puffy orange vest. I am pretty sure this is a de-aged flashback where we finally get to see how in the fuck Will got away from the demogorgon when it brought him through the portal.”

Another believes Will is “for sure getting possessed especially, because it looks like Erica has a syringe in one scene!”

Someone said, “This better not end like Game of Thrones. I swear.”

Fair concerns. No one wants their childhood comfort series to go out on a whimper.
