GaussDB launch to enhance digital transformation
The forum brought together local customers and partners to explore how GaussDB can serve as a foundation for mission-critical workloads in various sectors, including finance, government, and transport. Steven Chen, Managing Director of Huawei Cloud South Africa, underscored the importance of databases in the ongoing wave of digitalisation, stating, “Database is the foundation of this wave.”
GaussDB, developed over two decades, promises to overcome traditional database limitations with innovative cloud-native architecture, hardware-software synergy, and end-to-end security. “GaussDB allows for independent scaling of computing power and storage, which enhances resource utilization,” Chen explained. This adaptability makes GaussDB a valuable tool for businesses aiming to optimize operations and reduce costs.
GaussDB Pioneer Program and Cloud Native Elite Club launched
In a bid to further drive innovation, Huawei Cloud launched the GaussDB Pioneer Program during the event. The program offered tailored packages to customers, partners, and elite members in South Africa, providing opportunities for free trials, co-creation of solutions, and exclusive training sessions.
Mark Chadwick, Principal Consultant at Huawei Cloud South Africa, emphasized the significance of this initiative, “Our team is working with partners to build a local ecosystem in South Africa,” he said.
Additionally, the forum saw the introduction of the Cloud Native Elite Club (CNEC), a platform designed to connect local enterprises with global leaders and cutting-edge technologies. Philip Yuan, Western Cape Regional Director at Huawei Cloud South Africa, remarked, “Huawei Cloud will work with industry organisations to help local enterprises connect to the latest technologies and achieve digital intelligence.”
A hands-on lab session during the forum also provided attendees with a real-time experience of GaussDB’s capabilities, including one-stop migration, near-data parallel query, and an intelligent assistant that simplifies user interaction with the database.
