Starting on 17 August 2024, a series of workshops titled “Monetise Your Business” will be held in townships across South Africa, aiming to provide local entrepreneurs with essential business knowledge and practical strategies for growth. The workshops are a collaborative effort between FNB and Hetty The Entrepreneur, a monetisation expert in the country.

These workshops will address a range of business topics, including business plan development, financial management, marketing strategies, sales techniques, digital marketing, legal essentials, operations management, human resources, funding and investment, customer service excellence, technology and tools, and growth strategies.

The sessions, led by industry experts, are designed to be interactive, allowing participants to engage with the material, ask questions, and receive personalised advice. Attendees will also gain access to practical tools to apply immediately to their businesses. Networking opportunities will be a key component, enabling participants to connect with peers and mentors. Additionally, a pitching challenge will be held, with the winner receiving a cash prize to invest in their business.

The inaugural workshop will take place at Tsakane Community Hall in the East Rand of Johannesburg, running from 09:00 to 13:00 on 17 August. The event will feature a masterclass, networking opportunities, and a “pitch your business” session.

Heather Lowe, Head of SME Development at FNB, highlighted the bank’s support for township entrepreneurs: “Our goal is to foster economic growth and innovation within South African townships by providing the necessary support and resources.”

Hetty The Entrepreneur expressed enthusiasm about the initiative: “Our mission is to equip township entrepreneurs with the knowledge and skills they need for sustainable growth. These workshops are a crucial step towards creating a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem in South Africa.”

Entrepreneurs interested in attending can register on the Monetise Your Business website, with early registration encouraged due to limited spaces.
